Patients are admitted to Victoria Ward at The Friary for a variety of reasons including:
- Palliative care
- Rehabilitation following general surgery
- Orthopaedic surgery
- Monitoring of new drug therapy or convalescence to enable discharge plans to be completed
Victoria Ward is nurse-led ward which means it only admits patients who are medically stable.

Eight practices use the facilities regularly and three practices by negotiation. An occupational therapist and a physiotherapist support the nursing team.
Intermediate care
The trust works jointly with North Yorkshire Social Services to provide an intermediate care facility.
