Once the surgeon has decided that you need to have an operation they will add you to a waiting list.
If your procedure is urgent you may be asked to come back quite soon, but usually there is a little wait until it is your turn.
If things change whilst you are waiting for your procedure or operation please get back in touch with us. The best way to do this is to call your consultant’s secretary or the pre assessment clinic. If you cannot find the number on your clinic letters, you can call the main hospital number and ask to be put through
When you reach the top of the list you will be sent a date and time to come back to the hospital. If this is not convenient, please let us know as soon as possible.
You will also get an appointment for the children and young people’s pre assessment service.
It is very important that you come along to pre assessment as this appointment will help you, and all the doctors and nurses plan what will happen when you come to the hospital for your operation or procedure.
