Updated visiting – antenatal and postnatal
Siblings of the baby can visit for one hour at a time, multiple times a day from 8am to 8pm avoiding mealtimes. This will be arranged on admission.
Two visitors can attend between 2.30pm and 3.30pm and 7pm and 8pm. No other children.
Visiting for birth partners is 8am to 10pm.
At The James Cook University Hospital we care for women throughout their pregnancy experience, during any antenatal admissions and after birth.
Antenatal ward
The antenatal ward (ward 19) provides multi-specialist and individualised care for women admitted to hospital during their pregnancy.
Early pregnancy assessment unit
The early pregnancy assessment unit (EPAU) provides care, treatment and support for those women who experience bleeding in pregnancy prior to 12 weeks. Using a holistic approach women will receive support, advice and care individualised to their own specific needs.
Maternity assessment unit
The maternity assessment unit (MAU) provides care, treatment and support to women experiencing complications during pregnancy and the postnatal period, or who may be in labour.
Postnatal and transitional care ward
Information about the postnatal ward (ward 17) at James Cook in Middlesbrough. On the postnatal ward our multi-specialist team provides individualised care for women admitted following the birth of their baby.
