We aim for South Tees to become an employer of choice for SAS doctors, where they can thrive and take pride in their work.
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to support SAS doctors to achieve their full potential.
The following roles (contact details can be found below) have been appointed to help achieve this:

- SAS tutor
- CESR / portfolio pathway lead
- International medical graduates (IMG) lead
The trust acknowledges that SAS doctors are senior doctors and a very valuable part of the workforce.
SAS doctors in the trust benefit from similar job planning and appraisal to consultants.
Our academic centre, STRIVE, has given full support to SAS doctors. All courses and workshops available to consultants are offered to SAS doctors.
We hold three SAS meetings per year for educational, informative and networking purposes.
These meetings are like any other trust business meeting. SAS doctors and interested LEDs are encouraged to attend. Invitations are sent out by email.
If you would like to attend the meetings and are not receiving notifications or to obtain minutes of past meetings, please email [email protected].
Advice and help from your SAS advocate can include, but is not limited to; support with your job plan, appraisals, occupational health issues, difficulties at work and questions about pay progression and the SAS 2021 contract.
