South Tees innovation portfolio holder, Sharon Brown, and head of clinical measurement, Sarah Whitbourn, have both been placed in a published list of 200 women nominated for pushing the boundaries of innovation in their chosen fields, to help mark and celebrate International Women’s Day.
The #NorthInnovationWomen campaign, created by the Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA) and N8 Research Partnership, is in its sixth year.
It provides an informal and supportive platform for women to be acknowledged and celebrated for their contributions towards innovation.
The campaign asks for Twitter users to nominate women they want to see included in the list.
Sharon Brown
Sharon has worked as the portfolio holder since 2016 and oversees a total of 297 innovation projects across the trust, of which 52 are active.
It is really nice to be acknowledged for the work I do for the trust. The fact the list is made from nominations put forward by NHSA followers, has helped confirm that what I do here at South Tees, is visible to other people passionate about innovating patient care."

Amazing response
We are thrilled to reveal the 2023 #NorthInnovationWomen list. The response to the campaign never ceases to amaze me and this year is no exception. It’s clear that there is a real appetite to celebrate and support women who are excelling and innovating, and we’re proud that #NorthInnovationWomen provides an opportunity to do this."
