Three workshops were held with local people to talk about patient experience and involvement.
To launch the trust’s involvement journey, a patient experience and involvement strategy was needed to set out how we would involve patients, carers, and relatives in everything we do.
It was important that our patients developed the strategy to ensure it is meaningful and effective.
To do this, Health Watch South Tees facilitated a series of workshops in February 2023, with patients, trust governors and external organisations.
During the workshops, we considered how to make involvement inclusive.
We discussed how the culture of an organisation can have an impact and how to measure and celebrate the impact of involvement.
We also considered the skills staff need and their practice to ensure the success of the strategy.
We used the concept of a tree to form the basis of our conversations and activities, and by the end of the last workshop had created our strategy tree and action statement:
We are very grateful to Health Watch South Tees and everyone who attended the workshops for working in partnership with us to develop the strategy.
