Can I have a second birth supporter in labour?
Yes.
One birthing partner/nominated support person is able to accompany you to the maternity unit when you think you are in labour.
If you are admitted to the maternity unit we welcome a second birth supporter on labour ward only.
If a birthing partner/nominated supported person has or is suspected of having COVID we ask them not to attend the maternity unit.
If your birth partner/nominated support person is unable to attend due to COVID you are able to have an alternative birthing partner who is free of symptoms of COVID.
Can my partner/nominated support person attend for an induction of labour?
Yes.
We continue to welcome your birthing partner/nominated support person to accompany you on admission to central delivery suite for induction of labour. They can remain with you until 8pm on day of admission.
If you remain in the induction suite the following day your partner/nominated support person is able to attend from 10am to 8pm and then accompany you into a labour room once labour has started.
Once moved to an individual room we welcome a second birth partner to join you. Both birth partners/support people must be free of COVID symptoms.
Can my partner attend the antenatal ward?
Yes.
We are pleased to welcome your children if you are admitted to the antenatal ward to visit between 4pm and 5pm and we welcome a second visitor 7pm to 8pm.
We ask any visitors not to attend if they are feeling unwell or have symptoms of COVID to ensure the safety of patients, staff and visitors.
We ask all adult visitors to wear a surgical mask while inside the hospital.
Can my partner attend the postnatal ward?
Yes.
Your partner/nominated support person is able to support you on the postnatal ward between the hours of 10am to 8pm this must remain the same person for the duration of the stay.
We are pleased to welcome siblings of the baby admitted to the postnatal ward to visit between 4pm and 5pm for family hour. We are pleased to welcome a second adult visitor 7pm to 8pm.
Are partners/nominated support person able to attend ultrasound scans and antenatal clinic appointments?
Yes.
We are pleased to continue to welcome partners to attend antenatal appointments. We ask all partners/support person to wear a surgical mask while in the hospital.
Will my partner/birth supporter be able to attend the maternity unit if they are positive for COVID-19?
No.
You are able to select an alternative birth partner or support person who is free from COVID-19 symptoms.
