Tips
- Avoid ‘low-fat/sugar/diet” products and go for “original/normal/full-fat” versions
- Mix all dried ingredients together before adding milk
- Drinks can be prepared in advance and stored with a cover in the fridge for 3 days but beware of separation of drinks
- If prepared in advance and stored in the fridge, shake well before serving
- Blend ingredients using a hand blender or liquidiser to mix until smooth consistency
- Eat little but often – aim to eat and drink every 2-3 hours
Fortified fruit juice (1 portion, 220mL)
Ingredients
- 40ml undiluted high juice squash or cordial
- 180ml fruit juice (flavour ideas below)
- 10g (2 x 5g sachets) egg white powder
Instructions
- Mix undiluted cordial or squash into egg white powder (do not whisk)
- Gradually mix in fruit juice
- Best served cold

Coconut date shake (1 portion, 300mL)
Ingredients
- 30g smooth peanut butter
- 3 medjool dates (25 g per date)
- 200ml coconut milk – carton
- 10 ice cubes
Optional: Sugar/honey – this will add an extra 20 kcal
Instructions
- Cut the dates into pieces
- Blend all the ingredients using a hand blender or liquidiser
- Best served cold
Optional: Add sugar or honey for a sweeter taste!

- 25ml boiling water

- 50g smooth peanut butter

Instructions
- Dissolve coffee granules in hot water
- Blend the remaining ingredients together with the coffee using a hand blender or liquidiser
- Best served cold
Tips
- Can be topped with whipped cream for an extra 110 kcal
- Swap normal coffee granules for decaf to reduce caffeine intake

Fortified lemon cream (1 portion, 100mL)
This recipe is suitable for those with very small appetites who can’t manage two supplement drinks per day but would benefit from an extra boost of energy.
Ingredients (makes 3 portions)
- 300ml soya cream alternative
- 70g caster sugar
- Juice of 1-1 ½ lemons
- 30g soya milk powder e.g. Ecomil
Instructions
- Put soya cream and milk powder in a small saucepan
- Gently heat until milk powder has dissolved and then add the sugar
- Bring the mixture to boil and boil for 3 minutes
- Add the lemon juice and mix thoroughly to taste
- Pour the mixture into 3 small dessert bowls and chill
- Will keep (covered) in fridge for 3 days
