Macmillan HOPE programme – helping overcome problems effectively
The HOPE programme encourages positive psychological and behavioural change in patients who maybe struggling to return to normal life after treatment has finished.
It is held over seven weeks which include a taster session followed by six sessions focusing on building on participants’ existing strengths and resiliencies by using activities and goal setting. Participants’ self- beliefs and self-confidence are enhanced by focusing on possibilities, and past successes rather than problems or failures.
The group consists of a maximum 12 patients and is run by two trained facilitators.
