Who we are
Ward 21 is our children and young people’s general medical unit.
We have 25 beds which include a separate young persons’ unit (YPU).
We are a dedicated team of nurses, assistant practitioners, healthcare assistants, play specialists and clerical staff.
We also have a highly experienced medical team who work closely with children and young people and their families to plan and provide excellent holistic care.
Specialist physiotherapists, dieticians, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists also provide support.
What we do
On ward 21 we care for patients aged up to 18 years with a broad range of medical conditions.
We adopt a family-centred approach and encourage all our parents and carers to be involved in their child’s care and decision making.
Where to find us
We are situated on the first floor at James Cook – find us via the women and children’s entrance.
