Prosthetics
The artificial limb service takes referrals from the Tees, South Durham, and North Yorkshire areas.
It provides a range of artificial limbs and appliances for patients who have undergone upper and/or lower limb amputation, or who have a congenital limb absence or abnormality.
Artificial limbs are manufactured and repaired at the centre.
Patients are managed by a multi-disciplinary team that may include a consultant in rehabilitation medicine, consultant physiotherapist in prosthetic rehabilitation, physiotherapists, prosthetist, and rehabilitation engineer.

The department provides a range of manual and powered wheelchairs to residents of Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland with a permanent mobility problem.
Powered wheelchair assessments are also carried out on behalf of North Tees and Hartlepool, North Durham and South Durham Wheelchair Services.
Wheelchair accessories, pressure relief cushions, and special seating may also be supplied following assessment of clinical need.
