Information for patients
The clinic runs at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. Appointments may be at either of these hospitals to make sure you can be seen quickly.
At your appointment you will be seen by a dedicated specialist nurse, who will examine you and ask you some questions about your symptoms, existing medical problems and medication. It is useful if you bring a list of your medication to the clinic
We may recommend some further tests to determine the cause of your chest discomfort. The most common test we recommend is a CT coronary angiogram. We can sometimes perform this on the same day as your appointment, or we may ask you to return for this test on another day.
We may also consider other tests such as a stress echocardiogram, a myocardial perfusion scan or coronary angiography. These tests will be arranged separately and an appointment will be sent to you.
Following the appointment, the nurse will discuss the likely cause of your symptoms and discuss with you a plan for the further management of your condition.
It may be necessary to start some new medications, this will be discussed with you and a letter will be sent to your GP.
Please allow enough time for your appointment
Your appointment can take one hour and sometimes longer if we recommend any tests on the same day.
