Hip and knee replacement

This is a common type of surgery and we currently accept hip and knee referrals at our community clinics in Guisborough, Brotton, Redcar and Richmond.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has an excellent team of 10 specially trained hip and knee replacement surgeons operating at both The James Cook University Hospital (Middlesbrough) and the Friarage Hospital (Northallerton).

The trust is involved in the teaching and training of orthopaedic trainee surgeons, with our surgeons offering exposure to a variety of advanced hip and knee replacement techniques.

While we recognize the importance of training we maintain high standards by ensuring all procedures are performed under the direct supervision of one of our specialist joint replacement consultants.

All of our hip and knee replacements are carried out by this team and not by non-specialist surgeons or non-career grade doctors.
