Radiology children and young people special interest group
A small group of radiographers lead the radiology team’s commitment to providing imaging service for children and young people.
Presentations to staff have included communicating with children, paediatric chest pathologies, paediatric pelvis positioning, children’s fractures and paediatric CT head imaging. Interesting cases are discussed and any research into conditions is shared.
Discussions have been held about improving the environment and waiting times and focus groups with parents have led to us providing extra changing facilities in both James Cook and Friarage radiology departments.
We also have a interactive ‘way-finding’ route from children’s outpatients to radiology and have made the waiting area in the department more child friendly.
Staff from this group have been strongly involved in the following projects:
- Paediatric waiting times
- Satisfaction surveys
- Healing arts project
